Pretty floral print vintage dress found at Vintage Wear Boutique in Fremont, Seattle. Prefect for Spring/Summer. Unfortunately too expensive for me.

1970’s Fur Collar Inspiration
We’ve been having a unexpected stretch of real Spring weather here in Seattle. Sun! Very little wind! Actual warmth! Awesome weather for lying around to study in the grass, and also awesome for style creativity. I have lots of upcoming posts highlighting the campus style I’ve been spotting. First though, let’s get my mediocre face out of the way.
I was sort of inspired by seeing the new Dark Shadows movie and all that amazing 70’s style, plus the late-60’s fashion being featured this season on Mad Men. So many fun, crazy patterns! So I went for a full 70’s spring look. Luckily, my Mom was a teenager during the 70’s and she’s a pack-rat like me, so she kept a lot of stuff around that I now have.
Also a hurdle for this outfit: more hair was dirty and gross and I didn’t have time to wash it, so I needed a creative and non-ugly way to hide that hot mess. The winter solution: hats. Spring solution: scarves!
Okay, what do y’all think of my 1970’s inspired Friday look?
Okay, last one of mine for today. This is an old photo, as evidenced by the long hair I’m still sporting (which I kind of miss).

The boys at the Goodwill Ball.
That first guy was ON IT, for pretty much the entire night. He was nearly constantly just running/dancing around the dance in a big circle, over and over and over again. He was also very tricky to catch in not-a-pose, and I was even trying to be sneaky.
The 2nd guy is for my Dad, who’s a runner. I did like the addition of the bow tie and nice shoes.
I like the 3rd guys outfit for the colors. Bright blue pants + tie, light pink shirt and a bright pink watch. Also, just check out that camera angle; yes, I was lying on the floor. #importantinformation
You can see how the ladies of the night look in my previous post.
Last Friday night, there was an on-campus dance called the “Goodwill Ball” where the idea was to wear your best vintage/thrifted/Goodwill-sourced outfits. Unfortunately, a lot of people basically ignored this, but there were some people who showed in fabulous and fashionable thrifted fashion.
I tried to capture as many of these looks as possible, and a huge thank you to everyone who was such a good sports about getting their pictures taken, despite it being about 100 degrees inside the dance.
I saw lots of current trends in the outfits I snapped. Floral, lace (love that blue lace in the last photo), tribal patterns and some 70’s inspired patterns.
As for people’s names, a lot of them I didn’t catch or didn’t know. In the 2nd photo (and on the right in the 6th photo) is my friend Molly, who was totally Rosie the Riveter-chic; in the 8th photo is my friend Erin, who also was in 40s/50s garb (love those t-strap shoes!); in the 2nd-to-last photo is my friend Deandra.
If you see yourself or your friend in one of these pictures and want to let me know their name (and/or their Tumblr!) here; alternatively, if you’d rather not have your photo featured here, just use that same link to send me a message and I’ll take it down.
And don’t worry, I didn’t forget the boys! Their post is right here.
